Cal Cases was the first property in Spain to be bought as a housing cooperative—a common model in Scandinavian countries that provides a more affordable solution to property ownership. The project began with the structural renovation of existing onsite buildings and then focused on building a strawbale-house, involving the help of friends and volunteers from all around the country. This collective-living experiment shares resources, expenses, and daily responsibilities with the aim of generating a series of social, economic, and environmental benefits.
